Madalene Simmons

Madalene Hardister Simmons, 91, of Troy, NC, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Woodland Hill Center in Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015, at Eleazer Church, Troy, NC, with Pastor Jimmy Wansley and Christopher Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born on May 30, 1923, in Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Simmons was the daughter of the late James Allen Hardister and Bertha Harvell Hardister. She enjoyed playing bluegrass country music. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Simmons; sons, Leonard Simmons, David Simmons; sister, Anna Lee Simmons; and brother, Charles Hardister. Survivors include her daughters, Hilda Simmons Saunders, Donna Simmons Linder, both of Troy; son, Tommy Allen Simmons, of Troy; sisters, Maxine Richardson and husband, Roger, Katherine Russell, all of Troy; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Imogene Hardister, of Troy; daughter-in-law, Eva Simmons, of Asheboro. The visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, NC.
