It is with great sadness that we announce the Passing of Lynwood Allred (1945-2012). Lynwood was born and raised in Asheboro and would have had it no other way. He loved his "hometown" and the life he shared there with his wife, Kathy, his family and so many good friends. He established his own business and worked very hard at making it successful, gaining the reputation of being a fair, honest and trusted businessman. He knew how to do just about anything and everything; but if he didn't, he was bound and determined to learn. He also loved to "play" and enjoyed time spent at Lake Tillary and Oak Island. There he made wonderful memories with Kathy, generously sharing their homes and hospitality. To some, he seemed like a quiet man, but he loved to tell stories and to laugh and to "enjoy the moment," whether that was watching fireworks on the Fourth of July or a beautiful rainbow or sunset with "his Kathy" and his four-legged friends. He was a man who enjoyed life and who was thankful for all of the ways God had blessed him. Lynwood could be considered a modern day Francis of Assisi for he rescued countless animals throughout his life, adopting many of them. Truly he loved animals and showed that love by answering God's call to care for them. Lynwood was a special man and he will be missed GREATLY. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kathy Allred; sisters, Viola Poole and Layrelnia Brewer; brothers, Wyatt Allred (Alice) and Darrell Allred (Judy) as well as many, many other family members and lifelong friends. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 7:00 until 9:00 pm on Friday, September 7, 2012. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Oakhurst Baptist Church. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 2225 South Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27203; or to the Randolph County Animal Shelter, 1370 County Land Road, Randleman, NC 27317.
