Lynn Scherer

Lynn Bennett Scherer, 66, of Denton, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Garner officiating. Born June 29, 1949, in Chicago, IL, Mrs. Scherer was the daughter of the late Donald V. Bennett, General, US Army, and Betty Deacon Bennett. She was a homemaker. Her love of animals led her to volunteer as animal cruelty investigator for Randolph County. Being raised in a military family, Mrs. Scherer had the opportunity to travel to many places abroad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph "Bob" Scherer, LTC, US Army. Mrs. Scherer is survived by her son, Ryan Scherer and wife, Kristie, of Denton; grandsons, Braden Scherer and Deacon Scherer; brother, Peter Bennett and wife, Shirley, of California; and all her "fur" babies. She also leaves behind many friends including her best friend, Gray Furguson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 23. 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ryan and Kristie Scherer.
