Lydia Susan Venable Fields, 75, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Flag Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Hunter, Rev. J. Harold Hammond and J. Raiford Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born December 30, 1941 in Randolph County, Mrs. Fields was the daughter of the late Lurico and Mamie Venable. She retired from Energizer and worked at Walmart. Mrs. Fields loved bowling, cooking Monday dinner, Carolina basketball and the L.A. Dodgers. She enjoyed meeting her classmates once a month for lunch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Fields; and brother, Leighton Venable. Mrs. Fields is survived by her daughter, Lise Dawn York Forbes and husband, Jeff of Asheboro; grandchildren, Miranda York, Lance York, Evan York; and great-granddaughter, Maci York. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
