Luther Elvin Owens

Luther Elvin Owens, 83, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with Rev. John Auler and Rev. Mark Beane officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Born in Randolph County, NC, Mr. Owens was the son of the late J.P. Owens and Annie Hayes Owens. He was a member of Spoons Chapel Christian Church and he served in the US Marine Corp. He also volunteered at Victory Mountain Camp. In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his sister, Ollie Brower and brothers, Clarence Owens, Jesse Owens and Garland Owens. He is survived by his wife, Mazie McDowell Owens, of the home; daughter, Kathy Chriscoe and husband, Roger, of Asheboro; grandsons, Chad Chriscoe and wife, Tracy, of Charlotte, Tyler Chriscoe, of Asheboro; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
