Lucille Vuncannon Mcneill

Mrs. Lucille Ellen Vuncannon McNeill, 97, of Asheboro, NC, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Carillon Assisted Living of Asheboro. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, July 8, 2011, at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Britt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Montgomery County, NC, Mrs. McNeill was born May 8, 1914. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Vuncannon and Fleta Annie Greene Vuncannon. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Roy Otis McNeill; sons, Elvin Ernest McNeill, Junior Winifred McNeill, Howard James McNeill; brothers, Edward, Paul and Melvin Vuncannon; and sister, Vellie Harper. Mrs. McNeill is survived by daughters, Loberta Rush, of Liberty, Frances Blanton, Brooksville, FL; son, Ray McNeill and wife, Joanne, of Haines City, FL; 7 grandsons, Kenneth, Dean Dexter, Ronald, Roger, Mark, and Tim McNeill, and Randy Rush; 5 granddaughters, Ruth Ann Luther, Mildred Blouke, Bonnie Ellis, Cindy Elberson, and Rae Anne McNeill. Also surviving are 21 great grandchildren and 14 plus great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of a daughter, Loberta Rush, 3054 NC Hwy 62 East, Liberty. The family deeply appreciates the loving care provided by Becky Johnson and the staff at Carillon Assisted Living and the excellent care by Hospice of Randolph.
