Louise Ledwell Moffitt

Lillian Louise Ledwell Moffitt, 94, of Asheboro, died Monday, April 15, 2019. at Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Jean Nall and Chaplain Bernie Raymond officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born in Randolph County, NC, on October 6, 1924, Louise was the daughter of the late Emory Ross Ledwell and Dorothy Ella Scott Ledwell. She was a lifelong resident of Randolph County and her education was at Farmer School where she graduated in 1942 as class valedictorian. She married Lewis Moffitt in 1946 after he returned from his Army service in the Pacific during World War II. They built their home on Ledwell land at the end of what is today Moffitt Road. This was their home throughout both their lives. Two children were born; Virginia Carol in 1947 and Bobby Lawrence in 1948. She was a homemaker and had worked for Acme-McCrary. Louise was an avid reader, gardener, animal lover, and skilled seamstress. She was a long time member of New Union Methodist Church. Carol married Bill Kuykendal in 1973; Lawrence married Kay Causey in 1983. These marriages blessed Louise and Lewis with four grandchildren who were Papa and Nanny to their beloved grandchildren. These grandchildren loved her "fry bread". Lewis Moffitt predeceased Louise in 2002. Louise is survived by Carol Kuykendal and husband Bill of Durham, Lawrence Moffitt and wife Kay of Asheboro; grandchildren, Dorothy Kuykendal, Anna Rusconi (Valen), Lydia Kuykendal, Zachary Moffitt; great grandchildren, Lydia Louise Rusconi and William Rusconi; brothers, Bobby Ledwell and Billy Ledwell, both of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m., Friday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home. The family greatly appreciates the wonderful care that Cross Road and the hospice team provided to Louise. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, P.O.
