Douglas Louey Nance, 61, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, July 24, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, NC, with Chaplain Jessie Tate officiating. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Nance was born August 27, 1953. He attended Farmer High School where he wore #32 on the school's baseball team when they won the state championship. He was in the 2nd. graduating class of Southwestern Randolph High School in 1972, where he served as class president and played football and baseball. Louey worked in the furniture industry with Klaussner for 26 years. Louey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, who he loved and was loved much by all. He was raising five girls by the time he was 25 years old. His kids and grandkids were his whole heart. He also was the coach of his daughters softball team that won the state championship. Louey built the house for his family. He was a good Christian and loved God. He was a hard worker and loved to fish and golf. Louey was an avid UNC Tarheel and Earnhardt fan. Mr. Nance was preceded in death by his father, John Louey Nance, and his brother, Dewayne Nance. Mr. Nance is survived by his wife, Barbara Tate Nance, and grandchildren whom he raised, Drew Woodell, Jessie Nance, Jordan Smith, all of the home; daughters, LaVera Ellen Hassler, Lisa Turner, both of Denton, Rhonda Woodell, of Asheboro, Dana Nance Connor, Jessica Nance Key, both of Randleman; mother, Gladys Brown Nance, of Asheboro; sisters, Lori Swart, Carol Langley, both of Denton; brothers, Richard Nance, of Farmer, Morris Nance, of Denton; grandchildren, Jaxson Connor, Nicolas Connor, Nathaniel Jarrell, Keegan Smith, Kaitlyn Tedder, Megan Keeling, Haley Hassler, Natalie Hazel Rose. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2015, at Ridge Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
