Louetta Thompson Turner, 86, of Asheboro, went to sleep in the arms of her Lord on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Born in Cumberland County, NC, on April 24, 1930, Mrs. Turner was the daughter of the late Benjamin Glenn Thompson and Mary Jane Davis Thompson. She was a member of Good Samaritan Baptist Church. Mrs. Turner was the peacemaker of the family and family was very important to her. She was a beautiful testimory of God's love. So sweet, tender, protective but yet ready to discipline when it was needed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Frederick Eugene "Gene" Turner, Sr.; sister, Ann Ella Lovette; and brothers, Lonnie Kelly, Dewey, Earl and Henry Thompson. Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband, Wilton "Bill" Turner of the home; daughters, Delores Turner, Crystal Turner Hughes and husband, Bo, all of Asheboro; son, Sammy Lee Turner and wife, Oly of Colorado Springs, Co.; grandchildren, Gene Turner, Jr., Missy Wright, Jennifer Simms, Steven Turner, Justin Turner, Oliva Turner, Tracy Turner; 10 great-grandchildren, including, Tyler Simms, Olivia Simms, Jacob Hogan, Marli Hogan and Justin Turner, who were very close to her heart; and several step great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
