Lola Ruth Garner Maness, 87, of Asheboro, died Friday, February 21, 2020, at Universal Healthcare in Ramseur. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2020. at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church, Asheboro, with Pastor Randy Browder officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born in Randolph County, NC, on March 20, 1932, Mrs. Maness was the daughter of the late Arthur Herman Garner and Conie Belle Brown Garner. She worked at Acme-McCrary for many years and later retired from Energizer. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, She was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church, where she attended regularly until her health declined. She was a great seamstress and loved making clothes for her family. She also loved to cook, freeze and can food from her garden. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maness was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Maness, son, Kent Maness, a brother and three sisters. Surviving are her daughters, Cynthia Laughlin and husband David of Randleman, Teresa Blackwell and husband Larry of Asheboro, Tambreia Simmons and husband Kenneth of Ophir; sons, Kevin Maness and wife Debbie of High Point, Dwain Maness and wife Wanda of Asheboro; sisters, Stella Cagle of Seagrove, Shelby Bean and husband Kelly of Seagrove, Barbara Hall of Candor, Zora Ellen Pugh of Asheboro; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
