Lois Elaine Southern

Lois Elaine Southern, 64, of Asheboro, died Monday, August 5, 2019, at Randolph Health in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Pastor Bill Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Miss Southern was born in Randolph Co., NC, on February 1, 1955, and was the daughter of the late Lester and Sallie Reid Southern. She was a graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School and was retired from Mid-State Plastic after 20 years of service. Elaine was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church and volunteered serving refreshments at Center Cross Baptist Church on Wednesday nights and at the Randolph County Senior Adults Association on Friday nights. In addition to her parents, Miss Southern was preceded in death by her second mother, Merlene Southern, her niece, Lisa Sykes, and her brother-in-law, Johnny Sykes. Survivors include her brother, Lewis Southern and wife Sarah of Asheboro; sister, Patty Sykes of High Point; nephews, Phillip Southern and wife Kristina, Matthew Southern and wife Rebecca, Mitchell Sykes and wife, Amy; niece, Regina Starling and husband Mitchell; great nieces and nephews, Emily Southern, Joshua Southern, Megan Harris and husband Brandon, Johnny Starling; and many friends at Cross Road Retirement Community, Randolph Mall, and Maple Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Friday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials be made to Maple Springs Baptist Church, P.O. Box 357, Seagrove, NC 27341.
