Sgt. 1st Class Lloyd Gary Locke, Sr. (Special Forces, Retired), 79, of Asheboro, died Monday, February 25, 2019 at Randolph Health in Asheboro. Memorial services with full military honors will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Arnold Luther officiating. Born in Livingston, Texas, on September 24, 1939, Lloyd was the son of the late Oscar Locke and Juanita Samford Locke. He served in the US Army Special Forces for 24 years, where he was a Green Beret and Paratrooper and fought during the Vietnam War. He loved the military and cowboys. He actually rode bulls in a rodeo. He sent flowers to his mother every year starting at age six when he stole them from his neighbor's yard to give to her. He loved his beloved dog and wanted him to go with him. In addition to his father, Lloyd was preceded in death by his brother, Weldon Grady Locke. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Rossie Locke, of the home; daughter, Lisa Jo Batts and husband, Roy Batts, Jr., of TX; sons, Lloyd Locke, Jr., and wife, April, Jeff Camp and wife, Jessie, all of Asheboro; "adopted son", Victor Carrillo; mother, Juanita Locke, of TX; sister, Jo Ann Bridge, of TX; granddaughters, Mickaela Bradshaw and husband, Ethan, of Kernersville, Reanna Batts, of TX, Karlee Camp, of CT; grandsons, Shawn Bingham, of TX, Matthew Bingham, of AK, Hayden Harman, of CT, Damien Camp, of CT, Roy Batts, III, and wife, Asheleigh, of TX; "adopted grandchild", Jesus Carrillo; great grandchildren, Romeo Batts, Ryder Batts, Readen Batts, Jayden Bingham and Teigan Bingham. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Ridge Funeral Home.
