Lloyd Hoover

Mr. Harold Lloyd Hoover, 85, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, at his residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, September 11, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Hoover was born March 8, 1926. He was the son of the late Jason Hoover and Mary Bunting Hoover. Mr. Hoover was one of seven children and grew up on the family farm. He served in the US Army during World War II. After returning from the military, he married his sweetheart, Geneva Moran in 1950. They celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary on September 2, 2011. Although Mr. Hoover worked full time and retired from Bossong Hosiery Mill, he spent much of his spare time tending to his many vegetable crops. There were always plenty of vegetables to feed his family and to share with friends. Mr. Hoover was also a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Hoover is survived by his wife, Geneva Hoover, of the home; son, Dale Hoover, of Asheboro, NC; daughter, Carol Harris and husband, Jim Coddington, of Cincinnati, OH, grandson, James Koch, of San Diego, CA, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 10, 2011, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Randolph, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
