Lisa passed away at home after a lengthy illness of pulmonary fibrosis on August 26, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Kidd officiating. Due to restrictions on group gatherings, seating will be limited however the service will be streamed live from Ridge Funeral Home's Facebook page. Lisa was born on June 22, 1963, in Shelby Co., TN, and was a graduate of Randleman High School, where she was an avid softball player who loved nothing better than to try to tell her sister Kriss to catch her ball. She loved NASCAR and football. Lisa loved doing cross stitch and gave many as presents to family and friends. She did a cross stitch of all four seasons which her daughter Katie has. She could stitch anything. Before she became ill she loved going to the mountains and to Lake Tillery. She was a former employee of Old Dominion Freight Line. Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Charles Simpson of Ripley, TN. Surviving are her children, Katie Hardister of TN, Justin Kissell of TN; companion, Dale Burrows of Asheboro; mother, Margaret McKnight Thompson of Ridgeland, MS; brother, Charles "Bubba" Simpson and wife Susan of Alabaster, AL, sisters, Kriss Kennedy of Ridgeland, MS; Angie Luther and husband Tim of Asheboro; grandchildren, Aliyah Grandberry, Kaden Kissell, Avery Kissell of TN; niece, Thames Kennedy; Nephews, Reid Simpson, Taylor Coleman; extended family; Allene and Wayne McGrady, Dustin and Megan Burrows, Derek and Sherry Burrows and their children, Chance, Logan, and Lacey. The family would like to express a special thank you to Katherine Hance, Annette Crotts, Allene McGrady, and Teresa Southards for their care for Lisa.
