Linda Smith

Linda Diane Smith, 69, of Asheboro, died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at her home. A memorial service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte with Pastor Matthew Edwards and Mrs. Maybell Price officiating. Mrs. Smith was born October 22, 1948 in Mecklenburg County. She graduated from Garinger High School in Charlotte and was a member of Devonshire Baptist Church in Charlotte. Mrs. Smith retired from the Northside Baptist Church School cafeteria. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and loved lighthouses, especially Cape Hatteras. Mrs. Smith also enjoyed listening to music and singing. She liked coaching sports and had coached her daughter's softball team. Mrs. Smith also spent time collecting rocks. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her father, Danny Smith; her mother, Edna Thomas Smith Steen; husband, Bobby Keith Smith; daughter, Amy Nicole Smith; brothers, James Carl "Bo" Smith, Danny "Checker" Smith; and sisters, Jane Martin and Pam Baucom. Survivors include her daughter, Katie Smith of Fort Worth, TX; sister, Gay Smith Hardin and husband, Tal of Asheboro; half-sister, Carolyn Steen of Gastonia; brother, Tony Kanipe and wife, Kathy of Vancouver, WA; sister-in-law, Janis Smith of Troutman; granddaughter, Kaylen Diane Buckner of Fort Worth, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
