Lillian C. Speagle, 98, formerly of Randleman, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2015 at GrayBrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wade Craven officiating. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery. A native of Surry County, Mrs. Speagle was born September 9, 1916 to the late John and Zilphia Caudle. She worked for 13 years at Yates Thrift Store, a division of Belk's and was a homemaker. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, flowers and gardening. The last of 9 children, Mrs. Speagle was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James C. Speagle; her son and daughter-in-law, James C. Speagle and Dee Clark Speagle. Mrs. Speagle is survived by her daughters, Lillian Anna Speagle, Mary S. Wood and Barbara D. Speagle, all of Randleman; son, John L. Speagle of Julian; grandson, Page A. Speagle; and great-granddaughter, Cheyanne Speagle. Friends are invited to call Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
