Lester Brown Gearren, 87, formerly of Old Lexington Road, Asheboro, died Friday, September 3, 2010, at Britthaven of Davidson in Thomasville. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2010, at Smyrna Grove Community Church Cemetery with the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Born on July 9, 1923, in Randolph County, Mr. Gearren was the son of the late Nearus and Nan Hunt Gearren. He was retired from the NC Department of Transportation and had attended Mountain View Independent Methodist Church. He served in the US Army during WW II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Rose Gearren; his sisters, Edith Pace, Marie Gillette, Lilly Richardson, Gladys Brown, and Ruth Hunt; and his brothers, Jack Gearren, Boyd Garren, Bill Gearren, and Robert Gearren. He is survived by his sons, Ronald Gearren and wife, Shela, of Thomasville, Jimmy Gearren and wife, Libby, of Iuka, MS; sister, Eula Rush, of Asheboro; sisters-in-law, Rosa Garren and Elizabeth Gearren, both of Asheboro, Effie Gearren, of Denton; grandchildren, Chris Gearren and wife, Nicole, of London, England, Michael Gearren and wife, Kelly, of Winston-Salem, Jamie Carver and husband, Ben, of Starkville, MS; and great grandchildren, Owen Gearren, Drew Gearren, and Hayes Carver.
