Lester F. Allen

Lester Floyd Allen, 81, of Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Universal Healthcare in Ramseur. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am, Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Oakhurst Baptist Church, Asheboro, where he was a member, with Dr. D. Keith Hudson and Dr. Richard Crider officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph Co., NC, Mr. Allen was born June 8, 1935, the son of the late Floyd and Hassie Cole Allen. He was a retired truck driver and had served in the US Navy during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia W. Allen. Mr. Allen is survived by his daughter, Mitzi Allen Oldham and husband, Rodney, of Asheboro; sister, Mearlene Freeman, of Asheboro; sisters-in-law, Phyllis W. Pugh, Betty W. Adcox; grandchild, Shayna Oldham; great-grandchild, Grace McClelland; nieces and nephews, Shane Adcox, Rodena R. Clark, Heath Adcox and Stephanie W. Pugh. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, and other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Rodney Oldham. Memorials may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 2225 S. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27205.
