Leon H. Mcneill

Leon Hugh McNeill, 70 years old, of 3536 Pinehaven Drive, New London, NC, died Thursday morning, August 12, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Union Grove Baptist Church, Seagrove, with the Rev. Farrell Hussey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. McNeill was born in Robbins, NC, grew up there and graduated from Elise High School in June of 1958. He married in June of 1961 and then moved to Randleman. He became president of his Sunday School class some years later, and served on the counting committee for many years at Union Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member. In 1966 he attended Asheboro Commercial College, where he received a Junior Accounting Degree. In May of 1968, he went to work for Dan Thomas Pontiac in Asheboro as the accountant and office manager. He retired from the Pontiac dealership after 37 years. He is survived by his wife, Martha Christopher McNeill, of the home; two sons, Randy McNeill and wife, Kris, of Greensboro, Steve McNeill and wife, Lisa, of Cary; brothers, Allen McNeill and wife Barbara, of Asheboro, Harold McNeill and wife, Cindy, of Lexington, Charles McNeill, of Asheboro; sister, Elizabeth McNeill Hussey and husband, Farrell, of Summerfield; sister-in-law, Irene Brown McNeill, of Ramseur; four grandchildren, Meredith McNeill, Jordan McNeill, both of Greensboro, Samantha McNeill, Mary McNeill, both of Cary. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp, 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
