Lavon Canoy Needham

Lavon Nonivee Canoy Needham, 79, of Asheboro, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Randolph Health in Asheboro.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Asbury Baptist Church, 218 Asbury Church Road, Seagrove, NC, where she was a lifetime member, with Preacher Wayne Bryson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born October 16, 1946, in Guilford Co., NC, Mrs. Needham was the daughter of the late D.W. and Margaret Deaton Canoy. Gardening, cooking, solving crossword puzzles, and riding motorcycles with her husband were some of her favorite things to do. But spending time with her grandkids meant more than anything.  Mrs. Needham retired from Klaussner Furniture where she was a upholstery sewer.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Needham was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Paul Needham, Jr., her brothers, Shelby Canoy, Johnny Canoy, Kenneth Canoy, and her sister, Debra Canoy.

She is survived by her children, Johnny Paul Needham, III, Gena Parker, (Adam), Jason Needham (Jillian); sister, Karen Dorman; brothers, Mark Canoy, Herman Canoy; grandchildren, Stephanie Needham, Ethan Needham, Evan Needham, Ella Needham, Elijah Needham, Eden Needham, Mackenzie Parker; and great granddaughter, Josephine Needham.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2026, Ridge Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Asheboro.
