Larry Shope

Larry Holland Shope, Jr., 56, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Totally Committed Ministries, Asheboro, NC, with Pastor Jeff Looney officiating. A native of Buncombe Co., NC, Mr. Shope was born July 16, 1958, the son of the late Larry Shope, Sr., and Frances York Patterson. Larry was affectionately known as "Papaw", "Curly", "Boy", and "Little Larry." He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of Sons of Thunder. He had devoted his time, heart and soul to ministering to others and the Asheboro Shelter of Hope. He was a wonderful husband, father and especially loved his grandbabies. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shope was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Priddy, brother, Phillip Patterson, and step-father, Doug Patterson. Mr. Shope is survived by his wife, Debbie Shope, of the home; daughters, Laura Ann Clark, Patricia Matthews and husband, Brent, Tammy Lynn Lambeth and husband, Sid, all of Asheboro, NC; sisters, Kimberly Garner and husband, Michael, of Asheboro, NC, Tina Revis and husband, Jeff, of Asheville, NC; brothers, Grady Shope and wife, Shawn, of Asheville, NC, David Patterson, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Madalyn Singletary, Makenzie Ann Clark, Alyssa Lambeth, Kaylie Matthews, Bryson Matthews, Missy Ann Lambeth, Carley Lambeth; a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws and his dog, "Bowzer.". The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Totally Committed Ministries, Asheboro, NC, and other times at the home of Patricia and Brent Matthews.
