Krista Lynne Hopkins Tate, of Asheboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025, after several years of declining health.
Krista was born in Randolph County on May 26, 1961, to Hardy Everett Hopkins and Joanna Moore Hopkins. She was a 1980 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School. She was a loving Christian, wife, step-mother, step-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Krista had a special way of making people feel special. She was a caregiver by nature, as reflected in her work with children, adults, and her special needs girls.
She was very involved in church life as a Sunday school teacher, GA leader, Women’s ministry member, and choir member. Krista became a member of Holly’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in 2014.
Krista loved music, especially Southern Gospel. She also loved to keep in touch with family and friends on Facebook and enjoyed games. The beach was Krista’s happy place. She would go as often as she could to soak up the sun, the salt water, and the sea breezes.
Krista was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Joanna Hopkins, as well as a brother, Stephen Hopkins.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred E. Tate; step-son, Maj. Allen M. Tate and his wife, Ruth Tate, PharmD; step-grandchildren, Zach, Jayden and Julia; brother, Phillip Hopkins and wife Teressa; sister, Kathy Sellers and husband Raymond; sister-in-law, Sue Hopkins; nephews: Chris Hopkins, Brian Hopkins and wife Amie, Daniel Sellers; nieces, Julia Sellers, Kimberly Rozman, Kalyn Williams and husband Thomas; grand nieces, Karli Hopkins, Madilyn Hopkins; grand nephew, Colby Hopkins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Holly”s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Randolph Hospice House for the wonderful care they showed Krista and our family during her final days.
