Kitty Smith

Kitty Lee Cox Smith, 81, of Asheboro, died Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Velma Allen and Chaplain Bernie Raymond officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, Ramseur. A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Smith was born January 24, 1937, the daughter of the late Theodore R. and Jessie Allen Cox. Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her step mother, Allene Brown Cox, who helped raise her since she was three years old. Mrs. Smith had worked at Bossong Hosiery and Acme-McCrary Hosiery, and also at Seagrove Dairy Breeze and Hardee's in Seagrove, all while working as a poultry farmer. She was a member of Seagrove Christian Church where she served as choir director, music director, and Women's Fellowship member, and a member of Seagrove Grange. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Norman E. Smith. Survivors include her daughters, Welta C. King and husband, Robert, of Anderson, SC, Myra Hoover and husband, Gordon, Susan Teague and husband, Michael, Pam Regan and husband, Brian, all of Asheboro; sister, Evon Brady and husband, Donald, of Siler City; brother, Larry Cox and wife, Barbara, of Soddy-Daisy, TN; grandchildren, Zack Hoover, Rachel Causey, Nathan Hoover, Matthew Teague, Micah Teague, Sarah Teague, Lauren Regan, and Brandon Regan; great grandchildren, Chloe Hoover and Claira Hoover. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Pam and Brian Regan.
