William Kirby Threadgill, 96, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Homeplace of Burlington in Burlington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at First Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with Masonic rites. Randolph County Honor Guard will provide military honors. Born February 24, 1920 in Anson County, Mr. Threadgill was the son of the late William and Clara Threadgill. He graduated from Burnsville High School in Anson County and was retired Vice President of Walker Shoe Company. After retirement he started Threadgill Real Estate. He was an active member of First Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ. He was a member of the Oasis Shriners and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Lodge # 699. Mr. Threadgill served in the US Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Roy Threadgill and Cecil Edwin Threadgill. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 77 years, Myrtle "Mutt" Threadgill; daughter, Martha T. Stewart and husband, Bob, of Burlington; son, Tony Threadgill and wife, Pat, of Asheboro; brothers, Charles G. Threadgill and wife, Alberta, of Asheboro, Thomas C. "T.C." Threadgill and wife, Barbara, of Allegany, NY; grandchildren, Donna Lott and husband, Eric, of Raleigh, Jay Threadgill of Asheboro, Katherine Wachter of Virginia Beach, Margaret W. Barnwell and husband, Michael of Winston-Salem; great-grandchildren, Emily Lott, Phillip Barnwell, James Barnwell and Mary Elizabeth Barnwell. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, at the church, prior to the service.
