Kenneth Richard Lambe

Kenneth Richard Lambe, 75, of Asheboro, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Richard was born on January 31, 1951, in Randolph County, NC, to the late Thomas Franklin Lambe and Velva Merline Culler Lambe. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he had the honor of driving for four-star generals. Richard retired from the City of Asheboro after 30 years as the fleet maintenance superintendent. Richard dedicated many years to serving his community with East Side Fire Department, where he proudly served as a captain and was responsible for maintaining the department’s trucks. Throughout his years of service, Richard was recognized for his dedication and commitment, receiving the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award as well as being named Firefighter of the Year on several occasions.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Velva Parrish; brothers, Thomas Lambe, and Larry Lambe.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Ruth Coltrane Lambe; daughters, Crystal Lambe, Sandy Lambe Crater (David); and Daniel Brown who was like a son to him; sister, Jean Moody (David); sister-in-law, Bonnie Lambe; grandchildren, Elizabeth Idol (Casey), Olivia Bowles; nieces and nephews, Sherree, Erik, Amber, Brandy, Gail, Larry, Dainya, Tracy, Chris; several cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at East Side Fire Department, Administration Building, 4348 NC Hwy 42 South, Asheboro, NC.
