Kemp Foster

Mr. Harvey Kemp Foster, Jr., 84, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, April 15, 2012. A celebration of life is scheduled for 4:00 pm Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brian Gawf and Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. A native of Guilford County, NC, Mr. Foster was born December 5, 1927. He was the son of the late Dr. Harvey Kemp Foster, Sr., and Charlotte Louise Brockman Foster. He was a graduate of Greensboro (Grimsley) High School and Guilford College. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army Air Corp and having been honored on a Triad Flight of Honor. He retired from American Express Financial Services as a financial advisor. Kemp was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Asheboro Rotary, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, and a volunteer with SCORE, C.U.O.C., and served as a guardian ad litem. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret L. Foster and his second wife, Barbara S. Foster. Mr. Foster served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. Mr. Foster is survived by his daughters, Edythe Lyon Foster, of Asheboro, NC, Kem Foster McAllister and husband, Steve, of High Point, NC; granddaughters, Margaret Lyon McAllister "Molly"�, of Nashville, TN, Mary Reynolds McAllister, a student at N.C. State University in Raleigh, NC; step children, Mary Ann Lunsford Yow and husband, Barry, William H. Lunsford, Jr., and wife, Sachiko Kambayshi Lunsford, all of Asheboro, NC, Dennis Lunsford, of Salisbury, Michelle Lunsford Howe and husband, Robert, of Asheboro, NC; step grandchildren, Justin Allen Renshaw and Zoey Quinn Howe. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at The Flying Pig Food and Spirits, 208 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
