Edward Keith Smith, 70, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Born July 6, 1946 in Wayne County, NC, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Willie and Pearcy Lane Smith. He was retired from and spent the majority of his working life as an auto body repairman. He also had worked as a sheet metal fabricator. Mr. Smith enjoyed woodworking and loved his animals. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Smith Taylor. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rubye Baker Smith of the home; son, Michael Smith and partner, Ron West of Lillington; sisters, Diane Tonet and husband, Eddie of Mt. Gilead, Patti Falk and husband, Gary of Fayetteville; and brothers, David G. Smith and wife, Naomi of Darlington, SC, William E. "Bill" Smith and wife, Linda of Stallings. The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Randolph County Animal Shelter, 1370 County Land Rd., Randleman, NC 27317.
