Katheryn Mcdowell Phillips

Mrs. Katheryn McDowell Phillips, 87, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Randolph Hospital. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Oaklawn Cemetery with Dr. John Rogers officiating. A native of Asheboro, NC, Mrs. Phillips was born June 9, 1924. She was the daughter of the late John H. McDowell and Lillie Walker McDowell. She attended Greensboro College, was the owner and operator of Martilamy's and was a member of First Baptist Church. She served on the boards of the Randolph County Chapter American Red Cross, Asheboro Housing Authority, and the Randolph County Economic Development Corp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Parker Phillips; daughter, Ellen Tillman "Tillie" Phillips; and brothers, John Miller McDowell and Thomas J. McDowell. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her daughters, Amy Phillips Ange and husband, Rodney, of Asheboro, Mary Phillips Deitz and husband, Joe, of Greensboro; son, Clyde McDowell Phillips and wife, Allyson, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Parker McDowell Ange, Davis McDowell Phillips, Grantham French Phillips, all of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday, January 27, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home.
