Judy Darlene Hill Laughlin, 65, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born February 19, 1952, in Davidson County, Mrs. Laughlin was the daughter of the late Martin and Agnes Owens Hill. She worked at Southwestern Randolph High School and later in the medical field. In 1982, she was named Handicap Professional of the year. Mrs. Laughlin received her nursing assistant/medical technician certificate in 1984 and became an EMT in 1986. Born with one hand she developed "her own way" of crocheting. Mrs. Laughlin crocheted prayer shawls for churches for the last 10 years and was featured on Roy's Folks for her crocheting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Ray Laughlin; and brother, Kenneth Ray Hill. Survivors include her son, Darrell Ray Laughlin, II and wife, Juliet of Charlotte; sisters, Penny Cox of Darrington, WA, Millie Hughes and husband, Eddie of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Diane Pugh Hill of Asheboro; grandchildren, Andrew Taylor Laughlin and Jacob Alexander Laughlin, both of Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
