Joyce Whitt

Joyce Ann Crowder Whitt, 70, of Asheboro, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Oakhurst Baptist Church, with Dr. D. Keith Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. Born in Cumberland County, NC, on February 6, 1945, Mrs. Whitt was the daughter of the late Hubert Huiston Crowder and Pearl Weeks Jones Crowder. She was the owner and operator of Joyce's Hair Stop and Joyce's Unique Gifts. She was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher. She also enjoyed painting and crocheting. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitt was preceded in death by her son, Richard Whitt. Surviving are her husband, John Whitt, of the home; daughter, Lisa Mahon and husband, Arthur, of Harmony; sister, Jean Crowder McIntyre, of Asheboro; brother, Bobby Huiston Crowder and wife, Susan, of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Nicole Sneed, Trey Mahon, Zackary Mahon; great-grandchild, Hanna Jovi Hudson, several nieces and nephews; and faithful companion, Shania. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, October 12, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
