Joyce Venable

Mrs. Joyce Marie Lanier Venable, 65, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, November 12, 2012, at Penrose-St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Flag Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Jarrett and Rev. Barry Queen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Venable was born September 29, 1947. She was the daughter of the late James Wayne Lanier and Cora Edith Dunning Lanier. She graduated from Seagrove High School in 1965. She was a member of Flag Springs United Methodist Church where she was an assistant Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir, and a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Venable had worked at Luck's in Seagrove and was a board member of the Randolph Prison Chaplaincy Program. She enjoyed spending time with friends and playing cards and Mahjong. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leighton Venable, and her sister, Doris Talley. Mrs. Venable is survived by her daughter, Debbie V. Stutts and husband, Jeff, of Asheboro, NC; son, Brian L. Venable II and wife, Kristin, of Asheboro, NC; sister, Janice L. Kinley and husband, Danny, of Lexington, NC; brother, Jimmy Lanier and wife, Nancy, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Capps, Brittany Venable, Zachary Stutts, Caleb Venable; great grandchildren, Bryson Capps and Ayden Wilson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
