Joseph "Joe" Edmonds

Joseph "Joe" Samuel Edmonds, 93, of Asheboro, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, with Rev. Bob Hoover officiating.

Born on July 31, 1932 in Randolph County, NC, Joe was the son of the late George Wilson Edmonds and Mary Nora Dunn. He taught himself to drive trucks and made that his career. Joe worked hard and provided for his family. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed watching sports, especially golf and NASCAR. He was also a lifelong UNC Tarheel fan. Joe played pool for many years and participated in several tournaments and met several famous pool players throughout his life.

In addition for his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Hezekiah Edmonds, Vance Edmonds; and sisters, Florence Morgan, Rena Hemstatler and Georgia Edmonds.

Surviving are his wife of almost 70 years, Peggy Leach Edmonds; daughter, Pamela Ann Edmonds of Asheboro; sons, Joe Lee Edmonds (Laura) of Concord, Gary Thomas Edmonds (Susan) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Brandon Edmonds (Aleah) of Asheboro, Lauren Devilbiss (James) of Riverdale, MD; great grandchildren, Dawson Edmonds, Carter Edmonds, Elsie Edmonds, Farriss Edmonds, and Alice Devilbiss.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at Ridge Funeral Home, 908 Albemarle Road, Asheboro.
