Johnny Clio "J.C."� Blanton, 71, went to rest in God's arms on Thursday, June 3, 2010. J.C. of 14337 Montclair Drive, Brooksville, Florida, and formerly of Asheboro, had traveled many states in his early years as an owner-operator and later traveled many more before retiring for D.H. Griffin Wrecking Company as a project manager. In all of his travels he once said, "Home is where you hang your hat"�. He was a member of Brookridge Golf Course in Florida, where he could often be found enjoying a round with friends. He, along with his brother donated land to establish and help build Mountain of Faith Christian Church, where he was a lifetime member. He was also a former deacon, choir member, superintendent, and Sunday school teacher. He loved to travel, was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He once said, "Cancer can take my body, but it will never take my soul. That belongs to God."� He is survived by his best friend and wife, Frances McNeill Blanton, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Joe Elberson, of Asheboro; two grandsons, Adam and Jake Elberson, of Asheboro, one great grandson, Branson Elberson, of Asheboro. Also surviving are his brothers, Edwin Blanton and wife, Ellen, Wayne Blanton, all of Asheboro; sisters, Patricia Cole and husband, Milton, of Rocky Mount, NC, Lynda Curtis, and husband, Sherrill, of Dallas, NC, Sharon Richardson, and husband, Todd, of Asheboro. There are also numerous nieces and nephews who will mourn his loss. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Mountain of Faith Church with the Rev. Joe Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, 1713 Mountain of Faith Road, Asheboro. Memorials may be made to HPH Hospice, 12242 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613. It is with much love that we thank his family and friends for the time and prayers that we have received. We would especially like to thank the Hospice staff of Florida for their kindness and tenderness that meant so much. We think of this as not good-bye. Just farewell for now"�until we meet again.
