John Whitt

John Emmitt Whitt, 69, of Asheboro, died Monday, March 6, 2017 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Oakhurst Baptist Church with Dr. D. Keith Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors provided by The Randolph County Honor Guard. Born March 21, 1947 in Randolph County, Mr. Whitt was the son of the late Winfred and Reba Whitt. He was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church and was retired from Walmart. Mr. Whitt served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Whitt; and son, Richard Whitt. Mr. Whitt is survived by his daughter, Lisa Mahon and husband, Arthur of Harmony; sisters, Judy Parrish and husband, Troy of Randleman, Susan Collin and husband, Bill of Asheboro, Tammy Hughes of Randleman; grandchildren, Nicole Sneed, Trey Mahon, Zackary Mahon; great-granddaughter, Hanna Jovi Hudson; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 2225 S.
