John Lee Summey, 73, of Denton, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Jimmy Barbour officiating. Burial will be private in Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Trinity.
Born in Randolph County, NC, on November 9, 1950, John was the son of the late Robert and Lucille Crotts Summey. He served honorably in the US Army. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, panning for gold, playing computer games and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kristen Kidd.
Surviving are his daughter, Laura Barbour (James) of Denton; brother, Robert "Bobby" Summey (Faye) of Asheboro; granddaughters, Kayla Kidd of Denton, Angel Barbour (Cordell Graham) of Lexington; great grandchildren, Noah Graham, Shawn Graham; nieces, Crystal Richardson (Kevin) of Asheboro, Donna Reynolds of Sylva; and aunt, Rosa Lee Garren of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 10:45 until 11:45 a.m. and following the service on Friday.
