John Everette Hinson, 81, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Burial will follow at North Bend Cemetery, Denton, with military honors being provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Hinson was born May 26, 1944, and was the son of the late Carnie Charlie Hinson and Beulah Bescher Hinson.

John graduated from Farmer School and began working at Auman Brother Feed and Seed. His time at Auman Brothers was a special time in his life where he met lifelong friends, and developed a love of farming. John never knew a stranger, was a prolific storyteller, and always wore a smile.

John left Auman Brothers to begin a 25-year career of farming. He poured all his time into working the land and growing soybeans, corn, and wheat. During that time, he married his first wife, Iris Hinson, and was drafted into the National Guard and entered the Army reserves.

One of the highlights of John’s life was the birth of his son, John Everette Hinson II. He finally had a sidekick to work with on the farm.

After 25 years of farming, John chose to move his family from Farmer to Asheboro.

John married his second wife, Brenda Hinson, and soon began driving trucks nationwide. He spent over 15 years traveling the country, meeting new people, and adding new and exciting adventures to his arsenal of stories.

The last number of years have been full of gardening, meetings with friends, and always trying to figure out his next adventure!

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hinson was preceded in death by his second wife, Brenda Ann Hinson, and sisters, Glennie Hancock, Teresa Phillips, Lucille Johnson, and Panzie Smith.

Mr. Hinson is survived by his wife, Betty Peele Hinson; son, John E. Hinson, II, (Erin); stepchildren, Jason Moore (Dawn), Kristie L. Rich (Randy), Karen D. Warren (Greg); siblings, Betsy Leach, Evelyn Borrow (Autry), Harold Hinson (Joyce), Donald Hinson, Deborah Palmisano (David); grandchildren, Rainy Hinson, Evie Hinson; step grandchildren, William Eric Davis, Charlie Warren, Sasha Bryson (Chase), Felicia Rich, Trisha Rich, Harmony Rich, Gracin Rich; step great grandchildren, Carter Bryson, Christian Bryson, and Blakley Milligan.
