Jim Porter

Mr. Orville Edward Porter, Jr., 69, of Sophia, NC, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at his residence. A memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 pm Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Porter was born June 27, 1943. He was the son of the late Orville Edward Porter, Sr. and Ruby Elizabeth Odell Porter. He was a retired construction supervisor and a beloved husband and father. Mr. Porter served in the US Marines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Matthew Scott Porter and brother, Phillip Marshall Porter. Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Kathy Jarrell Porter, of the home; son, Jason David Porter and wife, Lyudmyla, of Palmdale, CA; stepson, Jason Keith Sparks, of Sophia; one grandchild; and beloved dog, Sophie. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
