Mrs. Jessie Pearl Morris Wood, 90, of Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, February 15, 2014, at her residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Carroll County, VA, Mrs. Wood was born March 10, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Alfred Henry Morris and Pearl Bell Carico Morris. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was retired from Schiffman's Jewelry in Greensboro. She was the last sibling of 13 brothers and sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thorne Wood. Mrs. Wood is survived by her daughter, Piper Covington and husband, Todd, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Hunter Covington, Summer Parker; great grandchildren, Austyn Covington and Talyn Parker. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the home.
