Jerry W. Walker

February 22, 1917 — June 17, 2013

Mrs. Jerry Lee Whitley Walker, 96, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, June 17, 2013, at her residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Back Creek Friends Meeting with Rev. Jon Reece and Rev. Harold Salmon officiating. Burial will follow in the meeting cemetery. A native of Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Walker was born February 22, 1917. She was the daughter of the late William Cornelius Whitley and Flora Crowell Whitley. Mrs. Walker was a homemaker who enjoyed needlework and mowing the yard. She was a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting, a Sunday school teacher, and served in various other ministries at the meeting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Walker, and son, Eddie Walker. Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughters, Bonnie W. Parks and husband, Pete, of Asheboro, NC, Kay W. Brawley and husband, Bobby, of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Donna Hamilton, Sherry Vann, Christie Wilson, Jeffery Walker, Lauren Stokes, Stephanie Josey; and 5 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Randolph, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
