Jennings Morgan

Eddie Jennings Morgan, 91, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Aaron Powers officiating. Entombment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born July 24, 1925 in Moore County, Mr. Morgan was the son of the late Eddie and Eugenia Morgan. He was a member of Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church. He retired from the NC Department of Corrections where he received the loyalty reward for 25 years of service. He also received the outstanding achievement award from the NC Governor. Mr. Morgan was a former member of the Asheboro Jaycees and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He played the piano, autoharp, banjo and his specialty, the guitar. He was an accomplished guitarist. Along with his wife, Bo-d, he won many awards and blue ribbons, made several recordings and performed with many bands. He was inducted into the Music Hall of Fame in Union Grove for 50 plus years of performing. Mr. Morgan was a beloved husband and loving father with a compassionate and giving heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ken Jennings Morgan; sister, Virginia Yow; and son-in-law, John Phillip Morgan. Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife of 71 years, Iris "Bo-d" Clark Morgan of the home; daughters, Darnell Morgan Long (Loyd) of Asheboro, Rhonda Morgan Austin (Richard) of Randleman, Pamela Morgan Morgan of Robbins, Lisa Morgan Bunting of Katy, TX, Anna Morgan of Asheboro; son, Kim Stephen Morgan of Asheboro; daughter-in-law, Lona A. Morgan of Star; sisters, Edith Fogleman of Burlington, Juanita Johnson of Maryland; grandchildren, Jonathan Long (Loretta), Jennifer Austin, Richard Austin (Trina), Tiffany Sutton (John), Stephanie Davis (Neil), Marca Miller, Melissa Brady (Mikie), Drew Morgan (Jennifer), Winston Morgan (Tara), Miles Bunting, Chase Bunting, Nathaniel Grantham, Dustin Grantham (Knikki), Tyler Grantham (Ashleigh); 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
