Jay Quinn Thompson, 50, of 202 Coleridge Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2010, at Mt. Zion Holy Church, Asheboro, NC. Mr. Jay Thompson was born on June 15, 1960 in Chatham County, the son of the late John Elijah Thompson and Ruby Lee Thompson. Jay attended Asheboro High School and was a member of Mt. Zion Holy Church. Jay was a man of many trades and talents. Jay touched many lives with his skills, doing many jobs for many people. He played the drums and bass guitar. Jay was preceded in death by his father, John Elijah Thompson, and his godmother, Emma Headen. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Ruby L. Thompson, of the home; his wife, Tonya Thompson, of Asheboro; two sons, Javoski McNair (Okiki Miller) and Jaquan Thompson, both of Asheboro; one daughter, Camile Woods (Ricky Woods) of Siler City, four brothers, Robert McRae (Clara McRae) of Spring Lake, John Thompson, of Southern Pines, Kenny Thompson (Vanessa Thompson) of Asheboro, Joey Thompson, of Asheboro; one sister, Ruby K. Thompson, of Asheboro; six grandchildren; mother-in-law, Nancy Lowdermilk, of Asheboro; brother-in-law, Tony Headen, of Asheboro; sisters-in-law, Deborah Kennedy, of Robbins, Phyllis Headen, of Sanford; goddaughters, Tiesha Cheek and Latoya Julius; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
