Janice Carol Cook Ellis, 80, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Memorial services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 25, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Charles Reeder officiating. Born December 25, 1936 in West Virginia, Mrs. Ellis was the daughter of the late Flavel and Icie Cook. She was of the Baptist faith and had worked at Odell Hardware Store in Greensboro for 20 years. Mrs. Ellis later co-founded The Real Estate Shoppe in Asheboro, where she worked until her retirement. She enjoyed painting, creating custom jewelry and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Ellis. Survivors include her sons, Barry Walker of Winston-Salem, Brett Walker and wife, Debbie of Greensboro, John Ellis, Jr. and wife, Ann of Asheboro; sister, Gloria Anthony and husband, Roger of Greensboro; brother, Buddy Cook of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law, Pearl Boggs of West Virginia; grandchildren, Taylor Walker and fianceé, Jessica, Jordan Walker, Brett Walker, Brandon Walker, Evan Walker, Hannah Walker, Mary Margaret Ellis; great-grandchildren, Kinley and Aubrey; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home.
