Janet Pierce Wilson, 59, of Durham, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 908 Albemarle Rd., Asheboro, NC, 27203, with her pastor, Rev. Bryan Faggart, Rev. Jim Perryman, and Dr. Peggy Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m., prior to the service. Janet was born July 30, 1958, the daughter of the late Wesley and Golda McKinnon Pierce. She was a 1976 graduate of Asheboro High School and received an Associate Degree in Nursing from Guilford Technical College, a BSN from NC Central University, and an MHA from Pfeiffer University. She retired as a nurse from Duke University Hospitals in 2015 after 33 years of service. She attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Durham. Janet was an avid Tarheel fan and enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially trips to Canada and to visit friends in Arizona. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Wilson; her sisters, Johnsie Pierce Brantley and Gail Pierce Connor. Survivors include her sister, Sharon Pierce of Asheboro; nieces, Erin Connor and Jami Jon Brantley; nephew, Rob Brantley; great nephew, Zeke Brantley; and many friends who helped her through this time.
