Janet Elizabeth Freeman Johnson, 73, of Asheboro, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, at her home. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Foster Street Wesleyan Church, with Rev. William Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Janet was born on May 15, 1948, in Washington D.C. to the late Curtis Gray Freeman and Mattie Shehan Freeman. She attended Seagrove High School and achieved her GED at Randolph Community College. She waitressed in restaurants, drove school buses, operated a home daycare and won a trip to Hawaii for her distinguished sales performance. Janet loved her family, jewelry, chocolate covered cherries, Elvis music, traveling, beach home, cleaning, and her Diet Coke. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her sons, Brian Lee Johnson and Christopher Earl Johnson; and brother, Curtis "Junior" Gray Freeman, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Garland Lee Johnson; son, Jeffrey "Mark" Johnson (Lori); siblings, Boyd Freeman, Joann Freeman Peterson; grandchildren, Taylor Morgan Johnson (fiancé Chris Lucas), Austin Nathaniel Johnson (fiancée Makayla Barnicks), Lucas "Luke" Ryan Johnson; great grandchildren, Reese Elizabeth Johnson and Wyatt Christopher Lucas. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the church prior to the service.
