James Clarence Pope, 72, of Asheboro, NC was born March 8, 1949. James lived a full life in Asheboro, NC, where he passed away on August 3, 2021. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Reeder officiating. James was born in Rolling Forks, Mississippi, to the union of Ollie Mae Kidd and Nora Pope, whom both preceded him in going home. James' siblings are Michael Carl Kidd of Asheboro, NC, and Donna Honor of Leland, MS. He also has three daughters, many grandchildren as well as a great grandchild. Donna Russell, mother of Kiara Gaton, Timoya Gaton, Taudrianna Gaton, Timothy Gaton, Tyana Gaton, Andriona Washington, and grandmother of Nova Carraway. Martha Yager, mother of Onesti Yager, Josiah Yager, and Samari Yager. Tameka Pope of New Jersey, who also has children. James also leaves behind an aunt Arabell Wheeler of Charlotte, NC and uncle Edward Dangerfield of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. James worked for 38 years starting at Plastic Color Chip in New Jersey before retiring in Asheboro. James loved to cook, travel, listen to music, and ride his motorcycle. Honorary Pallbearers James Brooks, Mac Carr, Jerome Butler, Larry Cole, Mike Casey, and Jerry Brooks.
