James E. Moore

March 4, 1946 — November 23, 2015

James Edward Moore of Asheboro left his earthly home too soon on November 23rd, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was 69 years of age but his life is better measured in love and not years. He leaves behind his wife of eight years, Linda Roddy Moore; his three children, James Luther Moore, Jeremy Moore, Jennifer Moore Harwell and her husband, Roy, and grandchildren, Walt and Stephanie, all of Raleigh; his brother, William J. Moore of Greensboro, and his wife Jane Moore, and nephew David Moore and his sons, Gabriel and Joshua; three step-children, Lisa Zagada, April Espinoza, and Brenda Kitchen; and numerous other grandchildren after joining families with Linda. James also leaves behind his church family whom he loved the same as his own. James was preceded in death by his mother, Flora Pauline Hamilton Moore, and father, Lonnie James Moore. Educated at High Point College and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, he enlisted to defend his country in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Riley Kansas and then in Germany. James turned his specialty in the armed forces as a radar technician into his civilian career as an electronics specialist at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station. James enjoyed life in many ways with his family throughout his years. He could be found in every decade with a device in his hands to explore the world from a metal detector, to a police scanner, to a digital camera, to today's handheld devices where he connected to everyone who loved him. James had an interest in family genealogy and even went so far as to bind a book for the family that traced roots back over two hundred years. But his greatest joy was sitting on his front porch in his rocking chair looking out on the world with those he loved. James will be remembered in visitation on November 30, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home, 908 Albemarle Rd., Asheboro, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted on December 1, 2015, at the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Eller and Rev. Ben Chavis officiating. A burial ceremony will be held on the same day at Salisbury National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the James E. Moore Memorial Fund, c/o Freedom Life Church, 116 Sunrise Ave, Asheboro, NC 27203. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39
