Mr. James Albert "Jim" Moody, 79, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, December 23, 2011, at Balfour Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Reaves officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard, in which he was a former member. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Moody was born August 13, 1932, in Stokes County. He was the son of the late Gurney Alfred Moody, who was a World War II veteran, and Lena Gladys Stultz Moody. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie Ree Moody and his brother, Robert Moody. Jim was a graduate of Asheboro High School and attended Elon University. He also served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He began working in the restaurant industry at the age of fourteen. In 1960 he became the co-owner of Brownie-Lu Restaurant in Siler City until 2005. Jim enjoyed participating in the Senior Games in his later years. He was an active member of Balfour Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Mr. Moody is survived by his wife, Faye Dunlap Moody, of the home; daughter, Taina Moody Shaw and husband, Van, of Concord, NC; son, J. Derrick Moody and wife Jana, of Summerfield, NC; sister, Dorothy Henson, of Siler City, NC; brother, David Moody, of Asheboro, NC, grandchildren, Hannah Shaw, Madison Shaw, Jacob Moody, and Nathaniel Moody. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Balfour Baptist Church and again from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, December 23, 2011.
