James Davis Lucas

Mr. James Davis Lucas, 87, of Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Universal Health Care. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Sugg's Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Todd McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Sugg's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Star. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Montgomery County, NC, Mr. Lucas was born October 4, 1924. He was the son of the late William Jonah Lucas and Nettie Catherine Freeman Lucas. Mr. Lucas served in the US Army during World War II, where he received several medals. He retired after 38 years and 3 days service with Union Carbide. He was very proud of the fact that he was the fifth employee hired. He attended Suggs Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He especially loved his family, his tractor and his chickens. Mr. Lucas is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lavolla White Lucas, of the home; children, Donald Lucas and wife, Phyllis, Cynthia Brooks and husband, Jimmy, Evona Seagraves and husband, James, all of Asheboro; sister, Nellie Mae Beane, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Charles Brooks, Travis Brooks and wife, Brandy, of Asheboro, Jennifer Wally and husband, Bubba, of Cornelius, Seth Seagraves, of Asheboro, Beth Brooke and husband, Chris, of Hillsville, VA, Jamie Bunnell and husband, Aaron, of Asheboro, JJ Seagraves, of Asheboro; and four great grandchildren. At the request of Mr. Lucas, his body will lie in state at his home and the family will receive friends there. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
