Edward James Johnson of Asheboro left us to go be with our Heavenly Father on August 30, 2016 due to a brief illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Hicks and Jeff Jarrett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. James was born on November 17, 1965 in Mecklenburg County but lived most of his life in Asheboro. He attended Bailey Grove Baptist Church. James had been employed at McDonald's for 15 years and loved everyone he met there. He had been a member of Boy Scout Troop 571 for over 20 years. James was chosen as the 2015 Randolph County Outstanding Employee with a Disability. He loved life and never met a stranger. James leaves behind his special mom, Laura Luck and best friend, Ralph Allred plus many other special people he had met throughout his life. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times friends will gather at the home of Ralph Allred, 759 Britt Ave., Asheboro. To honor James memory, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Operation Red Sleigh, 7158 Canaan Church Rd., Denton, NC 27239. Special appreciation goes to Darlene Minter and her staff for the love and care they have given James. We would also like to thank Michele Rogers and Community Home Care & Hospice for their support and care.
