James “Pawpaw” Lundy Cranford, 75, of Denton, died Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held outside, Monday, August 24, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Fellowship Church, Denton, with Rev. James Draughn, Rev. Leo Rhymer and Rev. Danny McMahan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. James was born on May 18, 1945, in Davidson Co., to the late Ervin James Cranford and Roxie Ellen Sears Cranford. With the death of both of his parents when he was at a young age, James was raised by his aunt, Zeffie Cranford. He also loved watching old westerns. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Lindsey Cranford and Charlie Cranford. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cranford of the home; daughter, Martha Ann Cranford Eddinger and husband Rayford of Denton; son, James William "Bill" Cranford and wife Carolyn of Lexington; brother, Ted Cranford; grandchild, Thomas Ervin Eddinger; and his three dogs, Precious, Dusty and Bones. The body will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro.
